B R Gavai was sworn in as the 52nd Chief Justice of India.
On 14th May 2025, Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai was sworn as Chief Justice of India, by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He succeeded Justice Sanjiv Khanna and is the first Buddhist and second Dalit (Scheduled Caste) CJI after Justice K.G. Balakrishnan.
