The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was established.

On 23 February 1962, the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) was established by the Government of India.

On 15 August 1969, The ISRO was officially established by the Government of India.

While Vikram Sarabhai played the key role in planning and guiding India’s space program.

It was formed to supersede INCOSPAR and to expand India’s space program, developing satellites, launch vehicles, and other space technologies.
