International Greek Language Day
International Greek Language Day is celebrated annually on February 9th. It is to recognize the importance of the Greek language – both ancient and modern – in shaping Western civilization. The date was chosen to commemorate the death anniversary of Dionysios Solomos, who is considered the national poet of Greece.
