Rajahmundry, Masulipatam, and Guntur Collectorates Merged to Form Godavari and Krishna Districts.


During the Madras Presidency in 1823, districts of Rajahmundry, Masulipatnam (Machilipatnam) and Guntur were created.

On 16 December 1859, These are split into the Godavari and Krishna districts.

At that time, Rajahmundry continued as the headquarters of the Godavari District.

Machilipatnam was made the headquarters of Krishna District.

On 15 April 1925, Godavari district was divided into East Godavari and West Godavari districts.

Guntur became part of Krishna District.
