Nizam Ali Khan’s treaty granted the Northern Circars to the British East India Company in exchange for payment and military support.

On 12 November 1766, Nizam Ali Khan made a treaty with the British East India Company and agreed to grant the Northern Circars in return for payment and military support.

On 23 February 1768, Nizam Ali Khan signed the Treaty of Masulipatam with the British East India Company.

In this treaty, he renewed his alliance with the British during the First Anglo‑Mysore War.

The agreement restored cooperation between Hyderabad and the British in their conflict with Hyder Ali of Mysore.

A few days later, on 1 March 1768, through a second instrument (sanad), Nizam Ali Khan formally confirmed the British East India Company’s possession of the Northern Circars.
