Veer Savarkar

Veer Savarkar (Vinayak Damodar Savarkar) an Indian independence activist, nationalist, lawyer, social reformer, author.

Co-founder of Abhinav Bharat Society (Young India Society).

President of the Hindu Mahasabha.

He wrote the book “The History of the War of Indian Independence”.

He wanted to reduce caste discrimination, allowed untouchables to enter a temple in Ratnagiri, spoke against strict caste rules in Hindu society, tried to modernize Hindu social practices, but did not call for a completely casteless society.

His portrait was unveiled in the Indian Parliament in 2003.
