The city of Jodhpur was founded in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
The 15th Rathod ruler of Marwar, Rao Jodha, laid the foundation of the Mehrangarh Fort and the city of Jodhpur was built below the fort. Marwar/Jodhpur State was merged into the modern Indian state of Rajasthan.
